Anthropogenic cycles were originally developed to focus on highly toxic materials, and have recently become varied in nature. Research has characterized the cycles of a number of metals over a variety of spatial levels: country, regional, and global. Several cycles will be presented and described as illustrations of spatial and temporal resource analysis in industrial ecology, and its relation to the availability of resources over time. Energy and water are important topics in themselves, but are also strongly linked to industrial ecology. This class session will explore the relationship of industrial ecology to the energy and water cycles from local to global levels.
