I'm a marketing PhD candidate and startup entrepreneur. My dissertation on Marketing Spirit explains how managers re-interpret the Marketing Concept, a fundamental theory in marketing, in this era of social networking and economic uncertainty.
I examine the phenomenon through research covering multiple markets and regions ranging from selling pension funds to managing high tech growth firms. I study how managers understand and rationalizie their business philosophy, justify it to others, and strive to turn it to action in everyday work.
I'm interested in how customer orientation, co-operation between various stakeholders, and impacting the bottom line is visible in firms through doings and sayings. This is used to define management beliefs related to stragegy form, explain how mundane activities and tools realize that vision, and eventually share culture and values form.
My startup Storytally has been inspired by my PhD research. We are developing new forms of storytelling and business models for social web series distributed on web and mobile channels. Our first story application School of Stardom (http://schoolofstardom.com/) will be published on Facebook in fall 2012.
